About Riding Tales: Who We Are

Bike Riding Tales is a collection of stories, experiences, guides and features about exploring places near and far with travel-friendly bikes. From small wheels to big wheels, a bike that can fit in a suitcase is a bike that you can always take anywhere with you!

As appealing as it sounds, not everyone can wander the globe year-round, but the beauty of exploration lies in its many forms. Through this site, we hope to ignite your sense of adventure—whether it’s a yearning for distant horizons, a thirst for thrilling escapades, or simply a brief escape from the ordinary. The world, as they say, is your oyster, and the path you choose is uniquely your own. (Though, in our opinion, the journey is infinitely more enjoyable on two wheels.)

Nadiah Aziz - Editor in Chief

Nadiah was born in Malaysia’s bustling capital, Kuala Lumpur, but her love for cycling blossomed during her childhood in the then-sleepy suburban town of Bandar Baru Bangi, nestled in the western state of Selangor. Like many, the demands of adolescence saw her set cycling aside, but years later, she rediscovered her passion for exploration on two wheels.

With over a decade of experience as a broadcast journalist and radio professional, Nadiah transitioned into the world of digital content creation after two years with the now defunct Cycling Plus Malaysia magazine. Currently based in Kuala Lumpur, she is a full-time independent creator, sharing her journey and inspiring others to embrace the joy of cycling.

Ekaputra Jabar - Managing Editor

Ekaputra spent much of his life in the United States before returning to Malaysia after 20 long years. As a former mountain biker in Portland, Oregon, he relished off-road adventures in the lush Pacific Northwest and navigated urban commutes through the vibrant streets of the City of Roses.

Now settled in Kuala Lumpur, Ekaputra works in software product management and has embraced the city’s burgeoning cycling culture. He shares his home with his wife (spoiler: it’s Nadiah) and their three cats, balancing work, life, and his passion for cycling in the heart of Malaysia’s capital, the rest of the country and beyond.

Maya Aziz grew up in the suburbs of Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia, where cycling was an integral part of her childhood alongside her three lively brothers. She fondly recalls post-school two-wheeled adventures and exploring the local scenery. Initially a dedicated road cyclist, Maya moved to Singapore over a decade ago for work. Now, she splits her passion between her travel and her folding bike—though her travel bike often claims her heart these days.
